I was tasked with selecting an area that was mostly rural, featured a bridge, and involved the commonwealth. I settled on Driel despite the bridge being historically destroyed and immediately unusable in Operation Market Garden. HLL needed a mostly rural area do to 3d art constraints. Driel was the only good choice given the constraints. We chose early to make the water cross-able for infantry which isn't exactly realistic, but would simulate the boat crossing the Polish forces did.
Starting off Driel was very slow to develop. I struggled to see how the level would work and kept experimenting with formulas for the ditches and fields. I then had to rush to get the level done as quickly as possible, so I settled on a simple ditch formula that quickly filled the entire level. I really impressed everyone on this level as I went from 10% completion to 95% completion in only a month. Typically the bulk of a HLL level takes 5 months.
I'm very happy with how Driel came out looking and still impressed with how quickly I turned it out.
